Here’s the party part.

Rock Im Park / Rock Am Ring. This is the first metal fest I have ever attended. The sprawl of it was astounding. The boisterousness was pretty much what I expected, but the politeness and deference of everyone was pleasantly surprising. Cell service left a lot to be desired. I think it was simply due to sheer weight of the dependence of tens of thousands of people on the normally sufficient comms infrastructure. Here are some photos.
Things to note:
- It rained a decent amount. Campers were quite often flooded and trying to relocate. Get a hotel. If you MUST camp, find the high ground.
- Plan your shows, meeting points, and times. OR just surrender to chaos and let Baphomet sort it out.
- Check ahead of time if the kiosks will be cashless, or if you can use physical money. When the credit card machines start misbehaving, legal tender will get you a long way. In the land of the blind, the one eyed man is king.
I won’t bore you with the details of the show. If you are on the fence about doing something like this, I say go to the show. Even if you only go once, give it a shot. The little I was able to attend was dope.
